Friday night we held a Martini Party and Fundraiser for The Leukemia Society in the name of Christina Mendes, the niece of Paul and Paula DiNocco. People who attended had a great time and we raised enough money to donate $250 to Leukemia research and patient support.

All the Social Media is challenging!

This summer is going by so quickly! I am trying to stay on top of blog postings, Twitter, Facebook and all the social media stuff, but it is definitely time consuming. I will keep posting when I can. I am planning some events with local artists and entrepreneurs, so keep your eyes open. Martinis, wine and cheese and chocolate will be forthcoming.

On another note, my daughter Adena is home from college for a while and will be helping me out in the store so I can go home and make jewelry and get my wholesale line together. Don't be surprised if you come into the store and see a beautiful teenager at the register.

Donate Directly to local Families in Need!

I found a wonderful way to donate directly to local families. www.SmallCanBeBig.org is a local non-profit organization which allows one to find a family you’d like to help. And 100% of your donation will join donations from others to directly pay an urgent bill or need for a local family on the edge. I just donated $10 towards a family who needs $374 to stay in their apartment after some family crisis'. Check it out....it makes it easy for those of us who can just donate a little to actually help someone...

The only place you can see the line is at the store right now. My first thought is Fiddlehead Jewelry (my maiden name is Fern) but that sounds too earthy.

So I am sitting here watching a big front loader digging inches, yes inches, from my store window. Usually towns try to do this kind of work at night so it won't disrupt businesses, but obviously this is not the case here. And how convenient-right in the middle of a recession/depression. It is 10:45 and I was told that they would be out of here by 11 am-that is obviously not going to happen as it did not yesterday. BUT-I am open for business, so please do not be deterred!
